“God sent a man before them, even Joseph, who was sold as a servant. His feet they hurt with fetters; he was laid in chains and his soul entered into the iron. Until his word (to his cruel brothers) came true, the word of the Lord tried and tested him.” Psalm 105:17-19 AMPC

There is much to be said of Joseph. He had dreams that elevated him to a high place above his family. We know that the same dream that elevated him to a high place positioned him in very low places first. We know that he was betrayed by his brothers, thrown into a pit, prison and finally promoted. There was a thirteen year waiting period in between Joseph’s dream and the fulfillment of it because during his period of transition God needed to develop an arrogant young man into a strong, mighty ruler with the ability to feed the nations.

How did God do it?

It’s interesting that the Scripture above says that the “iron entered into Joseph’s soul.” Iron is one of the strongest impenetrable substances on this earth. It’s unbendable and it's unbreakable. Several times in Scripture God says that He will make His people like “flint” or “iron,” so they’d have the strength to withstand trials. Joseph was no different. God used the agony, pain, and suffering to strengthen Joseph's soul and character to prepare him for destiny. The iron chains, fetters and bars preceded his iron clad soul. What are you suffering with today? Better yet, what is God using in your life today to give you an iron soul required for the next dimension of your purpose. See, you must be strong to stand upon your high places. And the only way to become strong is to allow God’s process to have its perfect work in you. Be encouraged today that God is for you. He loves you and He has a plan for your life.
